Data Engineer

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join pawaPay on a short term 3-6 month contract .  The role is to manage our AWS based Data Lake, providing reports to the business, working with the engineering to source data, and manage the data pipeline.  

This position is open to candidates located anywhere in Europe or Africa. Based on performance and business needs, there is an opportunity to extend the contract to a long-term engagement.

What is the role?

  • Understand the business domain
  • Manage the AWS Quicksight environment covering dashboard creation, building analysis and data sources.
  • Manage and build AWS Glue / Python ETL scripts moving data into data lake, and related applications.
  • Work alongside the engineering team to source data through the existing Kafka / mySQL infrastructure
  • Document solution and share with in house engineers
  • Work with existing development standards / CI/CD processes including GIT, Jira and Jenkins.
  • Test and work with the compliance team to adjust requirements.

You are a perfect fit if you have

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, or a similar technical role
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing and creating dashboards using AWS Quicksight
  • Advanced proficiency in PySpark on AWS for data processing and transformation
  • Familiarity with streaming platforms, especially Kafka, and experience working with relational databases like MySQL
  • Proven skills in managing AWS S3 and RDS databases for efficient data storage and access
  • Hands-on experience in professional development environments, including source code management and deployment processes through CI/CD pipelines.
